I was born and raised in Port Chalmers near Dunedin and am one of seven children being the second eldest and only boy.
I began my working life as an electrician, working in a family business in Dunedin. In 1987 I joined the New Zealand Fire Service and worked for 21 years as a Professional Firefighter, the highlight being a year on exchange in Ontario Canada.
I retrained as a teacher and taught at Otatara School in Invercargill before living and teaching overseas for five years in South Korea and Vietnam.
As a Christian, I particularly enjoyed my teaching experience in a non-denominational Christian International school in Korea. While living and teaching in Vietnam we were privileged to connect with friends through church to work in different mission outreaches in the community.
I have three grown sons and eight grandchildren and am an active member of St John’s Presbyterian Church in Arrowtown.
The opportunity to be part of Christian Education in this area is an amazing and rewarding experience, and I am enjoying the personal growth and challenge this brings. I believe Kingsview offers students in the Wakatipu area a viable alternative where students can flourish.
