I teach every morning in the Junior Room, releasing Jordana, the classroom teacher, who takes Reading Recovery.
We work together to support children’s social and spiritual development, and wellbeing. I am responsible for the Maths programme, Handwriting, some Phonics work and some of the Instructional Reading, and Art.
In the Junior Classroom we use Jolly Phonics to introduce letter sounds, and Casey the Caterpillar to learn how to form our letters. With the small class size, we can focus together on these skills, building a solid foundation for literacy, reading and writing.
The Junior Maths programme follows the Curriculum, using songs and clips to enhance instruction in number knowledge and practical activities for understanding and concept development. My passion is the Arts, we pursue Visual Art on Friday mornings; over the year, painting, designing and making box models and producing clay objects, which are fired at WHS. Then on Thursday afternoons the Music programme involves my leading a mixed level group, learning about the basics of Music and aiming to create and perform our own compositions.
