Subject: Notice of School Closure – Thursday 23rd October
Kia ora KingsView Community,
We have just received formal notification from NZEI that the planned strike action, involving union members across support staff, teachers, and principals, will proceed on Thursday 23rd October.
As a result of the strike and expected staffing shortages, KingsView School will be closed for the day.
We will also provide this information to students at assembly today, and will keep you updated through the newsletter. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Ngā mihi,
Amos
Principal
Kia ora KingsView Community,
Next Friday, 24 October, we will be celebrating our school-wide International Day!
This is a wonderful opportunity for our tamariki (children) to celebrate different cultures and learn from one another. Here’s what’s planned:
✨ Dress Up
Students are encouraged to come dressed in something that represents a culture. This doesn’t have to be their own culture – it could be as simple as a sports shirt from another country, or something more traditional if they have it.
???? Shared Lunch – 12:00pm in the Hall
Each child is asked to bring along a small plate of food to share with others. Food can be dropped off in the hall in the morning – tables will be set up ready.
Parents and whānau are warmly invited to join us for this shared meal! Paper plates and napkins will be provided.
???? Parade and Assembly
At 11:55am, we’ll gather in the hall for a short parade before enjoying our shared lunch together. Afterwards, tamariki will head outside for normal playtime.
Our weekly Celebration Assembly will begin a little earlier than usual at 1:45pm. Classes will be sharing cultural presentations in a variety of creative ways – from songs and dances to artwork and stories.
This will be a special day of learning, fun, and celebrating the diversity that enriches our community.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Liz on behalf of the KingsView staff
